4 inch steel? the biggest I would go is "2.5. If you can use aluminum and a couple of couplers and clamps. Thats what I would do. Steel is going to be pretty heavy, hell whatever gains you do get are going to be negated by the extra weight you added on.

yeah man 2.5 max, maybe pick up a civic intake pipe, or just some scrap aluminum pipe, and get some good silicone hose connectors, and call it good, dont use steel, its too heavy,

intakes are real easy to make custom, just need to time and creativity, but yeah 2.5 max, over that is just worthless.

You are going to end up sending well over $80 for your "custom intake" if you buy custom aluminum bends, and all the hose couplers required to make it work.

you can get a ebay intake that requires no modification for like $60 shipped. Look for "MX3 intake" and get their new SOHC CAI design, it fits proteges perfectly. I've seen it in person install on a 94 LX.

2.5" is optimium, 3" max, diameter.

e-bay uses 3" piping which not the best.

get 3 90 degree bends, 2 that are 2.5"dia and one that is 3" the 2.5" should go between the vaf and tb, the 3" between the vaf and filter.
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

Why not get a U - bend pipe from
www.atpturbo.com or www.jegs.com --> look in the exhaust section.

Then cut the U bend so that the somewhat 90 degree bends fit up right on the manifold and another cut , 90 degree u bend on the VAF, then a straight portion of the u bend in the center. Get it all welded together and then mount and ground your VAF.

I really think you should weld it though ..

or just do what Wil said. I have not seen that intake or the quality of the pipe and what not.

-- you do know that you have to becareful which types of pipes you use. Some pipes are known to conduct more heat that others. You would have to research that though.
