I have 6.5" Pioneer speakers in the front of my LX. I've been living with the window not rolling all the way down for like 6 years now, but I've grown tired of it. Has anyone made or found a spacer to keep the speaker magnet out of the way of the window, but keep the stock grilles on the door panel? I did a search and all I could find was for 5.25" speakers with the hacked stock speaker for a spacer. Any help on the 6.5" would be greatly appreciated.

I had that problem with my BH and other BG chassis variants (Escorts), I found a set of Panasonic's I picked up about 4 years ago and they fit in fine. They were built a little different than a normal basket IIRC. $80 a pop, if you are a cheap bastard, I would say 1/2" MDF like above. This is my BP. There are many like it but this one is mine. My BP is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my BP is useless. Without my BP I am useless. I must drive my BP true. I must drive straighter than my enemy, who is trying to beat me. I must beat him before he beats me.

Nah, don't go buy new speakers or anything for that matter. USE WHAT YOU GOT. If you still feel 1/2" is too thick try rolling the 5 1/4" lip a little bit. This will not conflict with the window, but will give you a little extra play room. Whatever material you use just be sure it won't get watersoaked or bent, so that you'll have a structurally sound mount now and in the future. Consider a coat of polyester resin to seal the wood for longevity. Lastly, are you still running the stock grill covers? Hopefully not, but if so take them off the door card; I think they are held on by just some bent tabs. Replace the stock grills with the pioneer grills. If you don't have the pioneer grills, hit me up I have grills for almost every speaker and size. Good luck LMK.Tricks get applause... Style gets respect.

I have an LX, so I don't have to worry about the handles hitting them. The grill is part of the door panel, so it's staying there. I made some 5/16" spacers last night and it worked fine. 1/2" would have worked better, but this is fine until I get some 1/2" stuff.
Also, I refuse to buy smaller speakers than my 6.5"s. I don't have a sub, so I like the little bit of bass the 6.5 has over the 5.25.
