i blew my tranny in my 93 escort gt ,and i bought a 91-94 mazda protege tranny.I herd that the protege tranny will fit but u will have to adjust a few things but no one knows what those adjustments are, now im turning to u guys to see if u guys know.If u do plz let me know.

I would be asking this in the ERDT forums but somthing happened to the forum and it doesnt work now.

they got completely deleted from what I have heard.

There are a few people on here running the EGT tranny in their pros. You might ask them what they had to change to get it to work, then do the opposite. I believe cablemirc put in an EGT tranny here recently.

Be sure you get one out of a Protege LX. It can also be model year 90.

The speedometer gear is different. Not sure if the sensors are different. Just swap them out from your old one.

Does the Escort GT tranny use the same ratios as the Protege LX?

the ratio is a bit different. tho many will say its the same. one of the gears i think it the Diff. that has 2 more teeth. making it a little bigger. you can only find the gear in a 91/91 egt and the 90-94 protege trannies after that it goes to a differnt one.

I wondered because the EGT and the Pro LX weigh close to the same and have the same horsepower/torque, you'd think they'd run the same 1/4 mile. But EGT's are usually faster (stock vs stock), I was thinking that maybe they had better gearing?

this was discussed before in a differnt thread. The differences were thought to be in the ECU. (BP-09 vs. BP-10)
That was also the thread title if anyone wants to dig it up... I am busy being lazy at work......

I had a 95 Escort GT tranny in my 90 LX, the only differences are the speedometer driven gear, and the switches mounted on the transmission. Reverse and Pressure switch. swap them and you should be good. (If its from a 90-94 LX, w/ DOHC)
