94 PROTEGE rear defrost not working

Anybody know where the rear defog connection wire on the passenger side goes to. I think its a ground and want to be sure that its not in the trunk somewhere before I start pulling things out. I suspect that its a ground wire, I get power to the drivers side connection and along the whole grid so am I correct in assuming that its a ground wire?

Sounds like you already have it solved but here are my thoughts....

have a test lead? Should be relatively easy to determine. Turn rear defrost on, Clip to the drivers side clip on rear glass connection and touch the tip to the other side. if the bulb turns on faintly then your ground is fine. If bulb does not turn on, then touch another part of the car with tip and see if you have juice getting to defrost. If you have 12v at any other contact point on the vehicle then the (-) side of the defrost is broken somewhere. If you are not getting 12v at all, then trace the wire up to the front of the car, more than likely, it is the switch.

My rear defrost doesn't work either. I haven't started poking around yet, but the light in the switch doesn't come on when I flip it so I'm hoping that the problem is in the switch itself. Is that likely?

I'm not sure what kind of rear defrost the protege uses, but if it's anything like the Escorts, it's the switch itself. Mine went bad, and I've got 5 in my bsaement. None of them work properly. Good thing I dind't pay for them! Hahaha

Its not the ground, Checked it today and the ground is good. Anybody have any idea as to why this is happening. Switch lights up when I flip it, I get power along the rear grid,Power and ground connections are fine. Im using a test light and it lights up bright when I touch it to the grid. Im confused

Could it be that the grid is bad?
