my check engine light is always on, is that becuase something is wrong or is it just stuck on? How do i turn it off or reset it?

Lol, as a dedicated 1st gen owner I keep a wire jumper in my wallet along with a quick refference sheet i made in Excel.

any luck? if its stuck on all the time, but not for the first 5 mins after start up...its your cylinder ID sensor aka your distributor! you have to replace the full unit, thank god i had an extra motor laying around.

I replaced oil filter and put new oil in it and the check engine light went off. Im confused but at least thats settled, oh yah i also put that engine compression restorer in the oil too and surprisingly it helped out.I feel the difference when switching gears, my car used to lag into each gear(like really bad) and now it takes off alot better.

Actually i bet the "lag" was from the check engine light being on and the car being in "fail safe" ie super rich mode!

mmhmm, im glad you got it fixed though. it could have been a bunged up internal sensor or something, and changin and flushing could have helped.
