    blew my motor tonight :(

well guys, the escort is now asleep for the winter, not by choise though.

i was driving up one of the main streets today and the car started to run on 3 cylinders which was weird because it never did that, the it started to overheat, so i pulled over and found a blown rad hose.

so i rigged the fan to run constant and waited for her to cool down and added water to the rad. then 20 mins later started to drive it, seemed fine, temp was 1/8th, so i was taking it easy, all of a sudden about 1/2 way home....3 cylinders...then no over heating. it felt like the motor was building up then BAM! HUUUUUGE cloud of blue smoke from the tail pipe and mounds of smoke from under my hood...then the car died. so i popped the hood...more smoke...didnt even care after that. got it towed home and kicked it.

anyways, thats my story, luckily i have a spare BP motor, but that'll be an after winter project.

there's a relatively low mileage BP at my u-pull-it, only 100k miles on it. I also found a Kia BP with only 7200 miles on it that i'm going to try and nab for my pro

thanks guys, but luckily i bought a protege gt the day before

bought if off the original owners, no rust, 270,000ks, 5 speed, red

i just did the rear rotors and pads yesterday and it feels great now just needs some front end work, it has a clunk when i shift gears and it feels like it wants to over steer....any ideas about that??? i was thinking maybe a mount for the clunking, and what might cause the over steering?? tie rods??

anyways, i have a 10 day permit and i've been fixing it up, doing some maintenance, plugs, wires, disti cap n rotor, O2 sensor.

cant believe how nice it runs tho

                    JACK

and yea, i'm going to do a light rebuild on my other one, probably just rings and a head gasket, the head seems fine and what not.

It always happens that inopportune moments are when things happen badly.

I spun a rod bearing at Blackhawk Farms in my wagon when it had a 1.9. I had started collecting things to do a homebuilt BPT, including a '92 EGT. So, I just swapped trannys in the EGT (the auto in it was toasted) and started driving that. Still too lazy to get working on the wagon though.

Then, being silly and doing a burnout in the GT, I broke something (primary shaft maybe, but something inside.. can't get it out of gear, and engine runs but no driving...).

So, I spent the weekend putting the BPT in my wagon so I could get to work. Oh, what fun it was, I was grinning ear to ear and in a mad-happy mood after I got my first taste of boost...

then i broke the tranny, and started driving my volvo that I'd gotten a few months before.. but then that broke (main seal blowout due to cracked rings) fortunately right as I was getting the tranny back in the wagon.

then, I was going to be driving my caprice in a TSD/gimmick rally, and the gas tank fell out and was dragging behind the car on the way there. d'oh!! 75 bucks for a good tank at the JY fixed'er up fine. Then, I sold it to a friend who blew the head gaskets on his mustang. He promptly lost the new glasspack, put it in the ditch a couple times, and then trashed the tranny (broken flexplate). He sold it to another friend, who fixed the flexplate, then blew out all the gears except reverse. I'm glad I got rid of it when i did, but I think they beat on it really damned hard. I'd spent years with the thing doing mightily-long smoky burnouts and never a problem. I sold it about 6 months after I'd driven it regularly, and 2 days later it was a wreck.

But yeah, enough rambling about things going wrong at the wrong times...good luck getting things fixed, guys!
