I think mine are shot...im leaking oil around the dizzy area. I replaced the o-ring, and valve cover gasket, so I think its the cam seals. Ive never done them before....any tips? Thanlks!

If its leaking around but above the distributor, its the valve cover, if its leaking where the distributor mates with the head its the o ring, and if its comming out the cap or the side of the distributor the distributor shaft seal is shot, which means rebuilt distributor time. There really arent any other seals that can cause leakage in that area.-Mike

I've had a problem with distributors themselves leaking. Not the o-ring, but the bushing inside the distributor. Three j/y distributors, all given the same problem. And I've seen it before on other vehicles. Only other thing it could really be is your headgasket seeping oil out of the side. I don't think that is a common problem, however.Rod F.
