    Removing A/C----

I have a siezed a/c compressor and was wondering if I took out the hole system compressor, lines condenser, and all that other fun stuff will it effect my heater at all?? Also with me taking out the compressor I know I'll need a shorter belt for the crank pulley to the power steering pump, do they make one for pros that had no power steering? thanks for any info.

A base model 323 w/ no a/c and having the a/c installed will cost $1500+tax.
Please save ur a/c. Not unless you live in Alaska but you dont. Hey, N cali? Damn, there's a couple of us w/ BG here in N. Cali. Cool!

If you're gonna remove your a/c to add more power to ur car. I'd say you might as well change your steering to manual steering. This should add a good 7 hp. Goodluck !

No, your heating performance will not be effected.

Remove your A/C compressor and bracket, lines, condenser and fan, receiver/dryer, relays and harness, and if you want to go under the glovebox, you can remove your evaporator. That is not necessary though.

A/C was an option, so there is a shorter belt for non A/C cars.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the info Jho, thats exactly what I was wanting to here. Since its a three day weekend I think I'll have time to get that done plus hit the junkyard for a 626 front lip and grab the center and rear console from an MX-3. The only thing that sucks about taking out the a/c is that I have to pay to have the rest of the R-12 taken out of the system. Thanks again for the info.

          You're welcome.

Not good advice, but I just went to a well ventilated area and cracked my lines open to get the refrigerant out. Don't breathe that **** in.

aww hell. what do you think happens when you come in with a siezed compresser and you have a r12 system anyways. most tech's (myself included) will just open it up and let it vent. we are lazy. bad for the enviroment yes. as bad as they say no. and news flash they have since found out r134a is pretty much just as bad.

i dont know any techs that would even think of doing that. anyway i hacked the ac on my egt, i didnt really care about perf. gains, just wanted to clean it up under the hood. it didnt work anyway. very doable and it does look alot cleaner, while ur at it rip that cruise out too.

If a Tech gets caught doin that it is a 10,000 dollar fine. Be smart about it and do it right.

yes it is a big fine. however i can tell you ive done it a few times and know a few guys who have done the same. not easy to catch someone doing it. we arent sposed to charge a r12 system that we know leaks either but that happens all the time just as bad.

I hooked up the pressure gauge up to my a/c and it showed no pressure so now I can start hacking at it. I guess that means my r-12 leaked into the ozone "ooops". Better that it did instead of paying to have it removed. Now it will help look a little cleaner under the hood having everything removed.

Cars are bad for the environment, and so aren't people.

Removing your AC offers no performance gain other than weight savings...

Your system actually has a shut off for the compressor at WOT.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

thats a horribly ignorant thing to do...if everybody takes the "what harm is one person gonna do" opinion the hole in the o-zone gets much larger

spend the few bucks and get the system discharged before you hack into anything, save the friggin environment
