    A New Beginning

Well I have been a member here for a long time and never really had much to say, just do alot of reading of old threads whenever possible and I have decided it is time to start my Transformation of my Protege I just recently bought. I own a Tercel and am a member of TercelOnline.com. The Tercel I have spent some money on here and there since I trashed my old Protege, but the winds of change are blowing and time for the new Protege to shine.

Identical to my old one I trashed.

    The Tercel:

Both Protege's are 1992 DX SOHC 5-Speed Models. A/C is wonderful on the new one and it has a hair over 90,000 miles on it, but has bad compression on cylinder 3 and I have just decided over time that zero psi is no fun.................................at all.

I must admit that I cannot seem to find what I am looking for in the search on here. I have several questions from GTX Swap, to available aftermarket, and exterior mod's available. I will cover one at a time.

I know that Corksport carrys about all there is available for these cars. What do I need to invest in to properly change over to the GTX engine. I have been debating on buying an entire front clip with 71,000 kilometers on it, would be more convenient then as to buy what some call "Complete Engine Swap" and have some parts here and have a bunch missing there.

Any advice or link to threads that cover what I need to look over would be most apprecaited.

well depending how much the clip is, that might be your best bet. Those are some low k's on it. If it comes with bumpers and lights you'll have a chance to make your car look that much sexier!

        Car looks clean tho man.

The current clip I have been talking to a guy about is a GTX front clip with 71,000 kilometers on it and I asked for price with all body panels and it came to a total of $2,200.00 before shipping.

Thank you for your comments on the Tercel and Pro.

Jumping off subject for one second I just noticed that Tercel lovers and Protege lovers never seem to "Hate On" each other like some other enthusiasts.

I am thinking about $6,000.00 should get me off to a good start. I want to buy a GTX Motor and all components with it, Corksport Downpipe & full exhaust, I will make my own intake, Chaos Front Apron Sideskirts and I want to buy a Escort Bomber rear Apron, and of course re-painted Green, and probably some Centerline 5-spoke wheels and Nitto Neogen or NT-555 or BF Goodrich's G-Force.

I am learning to work with fiberglass a little at a time and eventually going to attempt to making my own cowl hood, just not sure if I want to try and make one for the Tercel or Protege first, but thats ffar off in the future.
