    What should I do??????

Ok as most of you know I have been building(very slowly because of lack of funds) a 9:5 compression bp. It has been a really fun project and I would have liked to see if it was capable of grabbing the 150whp mark(or very close). This is what I had in mind for hitting those numbers.

    9:5 pistons
    cut intake manni
    2.25 exaust
    header
    exintake cam
    adjustable cam gears
    18* avanced timing
    iac eliminated
    cai
    rx7 vaf
under drive pulley(this may not happen unless I get the crank balanced)

So what do you guys think? Keep at it or part it out? This thread will end in 2 weeks.

From personal preference the boosted BP is very very enjoyable. Its what you like, and I like being able to whip about any car that pulls up next to me. My 2 cents.

you would probably be best off boosting it. The BPs handle boost very well so why not take advantage of that. Depends how far you have gone in your build.

you mentioned the lack of funds, so go N/A. there is a greater cost in the turbo end of things, maintanance is higher cost to. Not to mention if *Gasp* you break something?

Go NA and later if funds open up, it will take less boost to make decent power

^shawn your paranoid.... set it up right the first time & you don't have to worry about it. regular fluid changes & learning how to have more fun driving your car are the requirements

chris with your list you can hit 150whp or damn close i still don't understand why you don't take advantage of the continuing abundance or recent turbo parts. piece by piece. thats how all good things come to pass

uuummm........ right, and we have a zoom zoom boom section so we can set off firecrackers when we gat bored right?

the truth is its not if it breaks its when, and when it does, will chris have the time/money/parts available to put his daily driver back together in time to take the kids to school?

he asked for our opinions, not for us to argue over whos opinion is right. if that was the case, we would be here a loooooooong time

I didn't vote in your poll because you can only do what you can afford to do. If you want 150hp N/A them you have the stuff to do it. If you want more then you will probably want to boost it. A j-spec GTX with a front mount is capable of 210 or so WHP (ask neuspeedescort) and that was on 14psi. In a front wheel drive vehicle that is as light as our bg's that is some good numbers. The engine that I have in my BG, I have had in 2 other cars for the past 4 years (daily driven) with no reliabilitty issues. I don't think you should V-6 it (however I do understand if you do, I had a 302 in a pinto for f sake) but for power to weight ratio stuff I would just stick with the 4banger and finish it. My 2 cents,
              Jason

EDIT: If you make a 200+ whp N/A machine (which is possible on a 4 banger) I would deffinately be more impressed

put it in the lx chris

whenever you get bored of it, boost it for a high compression turbo

then sit back at your crazy HP monster

That's about why I was building it. Lol. Basically the lx is going to be my year round car that I drive to and from work(yes I don't get out much). I've told a few ppl what I would've liked out of it and threw numbers out on what I believe it could be around. Some said yes and some said no way.

I know a stock gtx setup is reliable but I'm one of those "be different" type of ppl. 200whp n/a would be sick but you're talking A LOT of money.and that's a waste to me. The v6 fits very nice in there. Klze is 200hp stock so you'd have at least 160-165whp on that motor. there will be a boosted v6 in my project car I pick up next year after we buy a home. That will be a few years type of project. the only reason for "lack of funds" is because I had really ****ty credit and I've been busting my ass paying off a lot so we can buy a home and get a good rate. Btw that has been working very nice. Jumped 120 points in about 10 months

Well keep the votes coming and also voice more opinions. Thanks for all the ones so far.

The KLZE would be a great daily driver, use the funds from the BP build to get a the KLZE.

Well YOU DRIVE A PROTEGE!!! You are "different".

I have tried both and boost is WAAAAYY better IMHO. I say turn the timing back, sell the pistons, header, under drive pulley, and exintake cam. Pick up a VJ-20 and mani run 10-13psi with a good IC and have fun. Cheaper and faster. But that's just my opinion.
