fuel economy is 25-28 on the 4.3's if you keep your foot out of it. the 2.8's are lucky to see low 20's carby

the 4 cylinder if its the boxy body style is the old iron duke motor that never dies, but i dont think id tow with it often

I've towed vehicles with rope before. One thing to keep in mind is good commmunication between lead and trailing vehicles. Letting the trailing know you're stopping is Key. Also experienced people use the trailing car for brakes that way you keep the line tight and dont jerk ****, run the line over blah blah blah. Towing with a BG is dangerous, towing with a FWD is dangerous period. Adding weight to the ass raises the front so stopping power and acceleration is severly decreased. I used my V6 toyota to pull start a FD. Its a stick and was a PITA to shift. Thats gotta be hard on a automatic tranny tho
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

i've used my old 93 b2600i 4x4 to tow lots of things...worked out just fine, i've towed my vw cabrio, protege, escort, 323, and lots of boats with it. no issues. it was manual as well, clutch never gave me an issue. braked fine too.

my friend just got an old b2600 not long ago. it's like a late 80's 4wd loaded extra cab model, i thought it had the mitsu engine, but it's for sure fuel injected. it's pretty sweet beater and he got it for dirt cheap. a/c even works too! just had a blown head gasket.

I've towed various other cars (240sx, Escort, Corolla, Barbie Lamborghini) with my Escort wagon before using a tow cable, but only for a short distance.

If you can find a 22re powered Toyota, I'd get that, since it will be running long after the body has rusted off.
