you must be missing the plastic trays that cover the bottom of the engine bay. with those on i never had any issues, even when going through 6" of unplowed snow.Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI

We had a guy come into Mazda the other day with his M3 engine bay packed upto the hood with snow. All of his hoses froze, and his car overheated. The coolant resevoir bubbled like a balloon, and the engine cover melted onto the valve cover. The engine could easily have been toast. I wouldn't leave a problem like this unattended for any ammount of time.1993 Black BP MX-3 RS - RIP

snow if the engine bay was full of snow and it overheated, that heat would melt the snow. and if the coolant froze then it was mostly water. i never had problems with snow getting under the hood.1994 Escort LX Wagon

We have days where it is -36ยบ before wind chill. His coolant tested for exactly -36, it was probably from factory, as most people don't change the fluid in the first year of owning their new Mazda3's. Clearly, the overheating engine did not melt all the snow, or we wouldn't have driven it into the shop, and seen it full to the top of the rad support, and all on the firewall... Everything except a small hollow around the engine, which was steaming substancially.
You've never had problems with snow under the hood, like most people. This guy did. It must be a combination of driving conditions and style, or it would happen more often.1993 Black BP MX-3 RS - RIP

its snowing here for the first time in like 3 yearsI live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
