    Electrical problem

Ok so as some of you know a couple weeks ago i was reading 19.xx volts charge on the battery. well i was told voltage regulator, and since that was internal to the alternator i replaced the alternator. i also decided to replace the battery at this time. well after i put in the new alt it still was charging 19.xx volts. well then a few hours later it was completely normal at 13.5 volts. well now its back to 19.xx and changes with the revs anyone have any idea what it could be? remember, brand new alternator.

ok well in the FSM it says i should have battery voltage and apx. 1 volt on the connector to the alt. well both are reading battery voltage. the only thing i can think of is when one of those bastard coolant hoses over there blew it messed with the wire.

So at ignition on, you got those readings?

There must be something else? Maybe with your wiring? A short somewhere? a bad connection?

Maybe you should check the continuity of where those wires lead?

disconnet your batter.... turn off the ignition... then check for continuity across that connector. You should have none... I bet you have it... short somewhere in that LS connector...

problem is im stuck at my house until i get it running. lol
im going to go test the resistance on the wire from the battery to the connector. see if that tells me anything. if i cant get it worked out im going to see what i can do at school monday. and btw shawn, when i get a bp ready to swap youll head up here right?

Ace, did you verify no continuity between the 2 contacts that plug into the alt with the ignition off?

the one thats supposed to have battery voltage was reading 0 ohms. the top one thats supposed to read 1v was reading about 590, on the 1000 scale. (im not to good with mili, mega, etc.. )

the problem was every time i took a reading i had my meter sitting on the fusebox. the coil was loosing some voltage in the air i guess and it was making my meter go haywire.
