Nice. Can you describe the hood opening experience?

It opens pretty moderately, nothing too crazy. But they were struts for a hatch that's a lot heavier than my hood so I close it fairly slow. Shouldn't be a problem though because I mounted them directly to the hinge. I had one but it kinda was floppy in the wind so I went ahead and did the other side

Yeah. Looks like it wouldn't close flush with the hood mount.
Thanks for the idea. Imma pull those mounts and make a bracket like the one that came in Bo's kit. This should be a lot cheaper.
Edit: crz or crv hatch?
edit edit: escort sedan or wagon?
just trying to make of list of things to grab when I go to the jy this week

CR-Z Hatch, not gonna find those in a junkyard. lol and I believe it was a sedan but like I said, it's been a while since I pulled them so I could be wrong. I know it was trunk struts that I got the mounts from though.

Maybe it was a mystique/contour. They look similar.
That looks similar, but it's gotta be long enough to bite into the metal below the fender. You're going to drill through the fender into the unibody below and it threads into the actual unibody not the fender. The ones I used seem to be perfect for the hinge and the fenderLast edited by Ace; 03-18-2013, 11:14 PM.

If it feels worse after, then it's probably miss aligned. What issues were you having before replacing them?-Jack
