The wife decided she likes my Protege, so I'm giving it to her. I've decided to part with some things in the engine bay, including the turbo setup.
Since I'm putting it back to stock (engine wise), I figured I'd do it the best I could. I happened to find a car at my local yard with the tubular header, so I snagged it and the down pipe. Every one of the heat shield bolts broke off in the process, leading to this:
Step one: grind off heat shield mounting tabs.
Step 2: blend.
Step 3: sandblast.
I'll be spraying it with ceramic coating spray paint before I put it in to keep it from rusting.

All I did to mine was go out and look at the poor dead thing, trying to decide whether it's worth trailering it 1.5 hr away to the shop with the lift to strip parts, or whether to leave it here, strip whatever topside parts I can, including surviving fenders and doors, then drain fluids and give it the tractor rotisserie treatment to get the rest of the parts out..'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.
