Still, you don't know what bad is until you have driven my race car... Solid engine mounts, full roll cage, certain areas of chassis and body reinforced and welded, aluminum racing seat with little padding, no insulation anywhere, an exhaust that likes to vibrate on the rocker panel where it comes out from under the car, and doors that are basically just sheet metal welded in place, gutted roof assembly, and a thin lexan windshield.... It gets so bad your rear end gets numb if you drive it for any length of time. lol.But it's a race car, so comfort isn't as important as a street car
My family has lots of bg's!

Solid or near-solid mounts here in both cars, and vibration really ain't an issue. Having the entire rotating assembly balanced by a reputable outfit is worth every penny.
1 AWR 95 duro, 1 welded and 2 filled mounts, plus Ferdi delrin x-member bushings, and it's almost too smooth. You can hardly tell it's running if you have the blower motor on any higher than 1. Quiet thick-wall stainless exhaust and tunnel insulation helps a bit too.

Took it apart to take a look, turns out you can't cheat on that rear bolt like you can on the earlier cars, ****in thing was hitting the subframe. Scienced that **** back in place and the vibration is mostly gone. Rad.

seriously, it's amazing how smoothly B-series motors run compared to this thing.
Yeah. And they're noisy as heck compared to the b series motor. When I started mine for the first time, I thought it was a few quarts low on oil, as the lifters where ticking like crazy. After being used to the mostly silent hla's, the solid lifters are annoyingly loud.

they're internally balanced from the factory or whatever, as far as I know there isn't a whole lot else you can do. horrible NVH is probably the only thing I don't like about these engines (that and maybe doing the timing belt, since I haven't attempted that yet). stock for stock (or, you know, lightly modded) I would probably take one over a BP- more efficient, great midrange power, doesn't leak oil from EVERYWHERE like every B-series I've owned...

I prefer the bp over the zetec. I like the top end pull the bp has, and my zx2 gets worse mileage than my 323. The zetec does have great midrange power, though. I think it's from the extra 200 cc of displacement. As for the lifters, I'm guessing you could adjust them and see if that quiets them down a bit. Other than that, I don't know. I'm just leaving mine as is, as I don't feel like tearing the thing apart to adjust them for the last few thousand miles I'll be putting on the car. I'll probably adjust them on my s/r when i get it going, though.
