I'm sure by then china-chargers will actually be viable though.

Car is back on the road after a few exhaust bolt setbacks.
Leak before the 02 sensor is fixed so the car is much happier. I also forgot to connect one of the exhaust hangers so its banging a bit.
I think I dropped the car too suddenly though and getting a weird grind/creak from the steering. I think a spring my be seated unhappy.I hope it's nothing power steering related, although I guess the rack internals are getting quite old.Beater=/= Sleeper

Installed the hood dampers that all the cool kids have. Hammering the hood seam fixed most of the minimal gap on the passenger side. I can't hammer left handed or upside down so the drivers side slight gap will remain for a while. I suppose it could of also been mitigated by hammering the prop bracket. But that would of involved trial and error.
I also enjoyed my 43º vent temps on this 92º day.

I wish the newer cars had the good ol' R12. R134a just isn't close. :-(Create your own VB Gallery here.

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Hell they're already phasing out r134a too, HFO-1234yf(lmaowtfbbq) will be the new standard soon. R134a works great in a well designed system, but forcing it in to older systems when it's almost as bad environmentally was foolish. Hell the wimpy aftermarket condenser I got is probably helping with the cooling compared to the beefy but too wide passaged for r134a stock unit. Still think Fiddling with the expansion valve adjustment could get it down to 37º but that's $20 and 2+ hours trial and error each pass.Beater=/= Sleeper

There are only a few Cadillac models that use the new yf refrigerant.... gm was going to start using it in everything but someone started screaming that it's explosive so they've backed off on implementing it12 cbr250r: daily ride

Implying GM cares about customer safety more than the ability to sell cars in Europe.
2013
2015
The German manufacturers Daimler and now Volkswagen have declared that they will NOT be using 1234YF in any of their vehicles. Their reasoning stems from
I will say the limited amount of reporting on this topic is concerning. CO2 sounds like a great refrigerant solution on the hippey side but I can only find generic information that it requires higher pressure but has a lower compressions ratio compressor. R134 is already 170+psi in systems and with the CO2 gauge sets going up to 500psi I doubt the long term survivability of those systems in a car environment. Car warranties are 10 years now so who cares though.
Still I've heard of people running propane in automotive A/C applications. Long as the most likely point of failure in the system is forward in the engine bay away from fuel components it'll be just as safe as any other American deathtrap car.Beater=/= Sleeper

At $150 a pound no one could afford to get their AC fixed if there was a problem so it seem logical the machine isn't used.
On an accessory related note my power-steering pump wobble has gotten much worse and it's going to start throwing belts soon.
I should probably fix that.Beater=/= Sleeper

I'm back
Hi guys been a while...Ive been dragging my feet over the past little while. I have been working on my 93 albeit just in spurts...I had replaced my computer and had to re figure out how to download and upload pics with another program. I think I have it figured out. Ill be starting up my worklog again, already have some pics ready to go...
What did I do to my BG today?
91- replaced the brake lines from under the rear door to the distribution block (both) and one line from same block to flex line on rear right side. Also readjusted handbrake/caliper clearance and replaced the muffler.
93- studied how I am to go about cutting out old strut towers and adding new ones. Rear towers are completely exposed now, just a question of deciding just how far I take this...
Worklog will be more detailed with more pics...Last edited by Wilyb; 06-28-2015, 11:52 AM.91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)
