Agreed. Where was the leak? If it leaked without pressure, it sure will with pressure... Was it the line, bleeder, or caliper piston?

got the 02 bung welded in:
Assembled the 30" glasspack and some pipe:
and got it installed:
Already I don't like it.
Basically just made with parts I had sitting around (I had to buy the bung, everything else was just stashed on shelves).
The WOT sound is nice, but inside the car it drones, and I'm betting it's going to be a cop magnet again. It's not raspy or buzzy like you usually hear. I was expecting less of a drone from a 30" cherry bomb as a resonator. I think what i'll do is put the cat behind it, or maybe find a really tiny chambered muffler that should quiet things down enough to make the car liveable.
I'd have left room for a cat in front, but the 30" glasspack is too long to fit between the gas tank and the shifter. Making it clear the shifter would make it hang down too low.
All in all, though, not too bad, I can still hear the radio OK, I just need to crank it up a bit more. And a 3-4 hour drive will probably have my ears ringing. Probably if I were to put in 14ga or 16ga pipe around the tank and out the back, much of the drone would be removed just by the thicker wall. Maybe I'll see what I can find for an actual resonator at autozone or oreilly's or napa.
What're some others' thoughts?

wow! you fit a 30" resonator under there with a cat AND flex pipe? geez, that's gotta be close to something lol.
Why don't you try putting one of the OEM resonators as a muffler Sarge? they're compact and should quiet things down.-Jack

Sarge-
Look back a couple pages for what I just did (well started - still haven't made the front pipe) One muffler in back, no resonator 2" SS pipe, stock cat and flex.
And I just put details in for the guy in NW with an Escort project - see Escort board.
Here's more, from a post I made on an MG board:
There are changes in silencer technology. I recently fitted a Borla straight through to my Mazda because I had one (and the old OEM one fell apart). Car is about the same (1839cc/102HP) as a very well sorted A or even B series. The pipe starts out at 1 3/4OD after the cat, but is stepped up to 2"OD into the silencer. Silencer has a 15" long 2 1/2" core, offset (bent) through the silencer, 2"OD straight tailpipe, 18" long. I expected it to be way loud, but it is disappointingly quiet, near the OE system which you couldn't hear at all. New silencer is half the thickness, half the length, a third the weight, all stainless, and my gas mileage went up from 31 to 34 MPG US, at 75+mph, with a noticeable increase in "snap"!
I have a Magnaflow round muffler that looks exactly like the Borla internally, though it is round outside - haven't fitted that yet, but it is going on my daughters Mazda 1600. The Magnaflow is 6" round x 14"L, all stainless, offset in/out, lifetime guarantee, list $125, $65 online including shipping!
Sometimes odd small changes can totally change sound - try a length of pipe across the back of the car as an extension of your silencer if it is good. I once fit an MGB centre box to a Deutsch-Bonnet, which has a very odd exhaust signal (2cyl opposed 850cc engine). It sounded sporty but good, Then I fit about a 18-24" pipe out in front of the rear wheel, started it, and thought the building would fall down - unbelievably loud, even at idle. So I tried about 5 ft straight 1 3/4OD pipe out the back and all was well again.

Started a claim with Corksport after trying the install the Whiteline lateral link bushings. Trying for a full refund minus shipping charges as they normally have a restocking fee.
You can get the bushings in the links, but when you get the sleeve in the bushing elongates and has a 4mm gap on one side of the bushing. Sent the claim a hour ago and the automated response email has yet to come to my email. I also noticed Corksport does not list the bushings on their site at all now, I could not even find Whiteline product on their site.

The OEM resonator rusted through with some big holes along the seam (directly on the top side) so i can't really use it. Same thing with another one that I thought I had around somewhere, it rusted away. I suppose I could get a sheet of thin steel and re-cap a resonator, they do really work nice. Or maybe stack the two (rusted with holes) that I have end-to-end and re-sheet them.
I've got a 2.25 cat at home that I could use, but I chose to put the glasspack there instead because it fit. I don't know if putting a cat where the OEM resonator went would get the cat hot enough to do anything more than just cause a blockage to exhaust gas flow.
I wish I had a lift so I could take a better undercarriage photo.

ya I doubt the cat'd be much good after about 8" downstream lol
I'm planning on doing a 2.5" system for the Protege, already have a flanged 2.5" cat, and I was going to pick these up locally for $80...seem good quality and would keep the car fairly quiet...if too quiet, I could just pull the muffler lol.

Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick...
The return of one lifter ticking on the '90 finally had me in fits today.
With oil still in the 100°+ range I pulled off the cam cover, removed the rocker shafts off the B8 and noted the partially stuck hydraulic lifter on #3 exhaust. Exercised it a bit and it now works silky smooth... Of course then I also noticed how all the lifters seem to be sticking and not fully expanding... Le sigh.
16 Lifters on the B8, 16 hydraulic lifters.
Take one out, exercise it about.
15 Lifters on the B-8
15 lifters on the B8, 15 hydraulic lifters...
This thing better run silky smooth quiet after...-Michael
