I'm glad the detail level of my post gave you any doubt about the type of gear oil I would use.
I use car-quest straight 90w gl4 that even has a warning about using it in GL5 boxes on the back label as a cheap fill.Beater=/= Sleeper

also, sup with using gear oil instead of ATF in G-series boxes?
The only reason atf would be usesable is if GL4 isn't available and your box needs something that day.
I just removed a gearbox I personally put 80k+ miles of abuse on,and I don't think Jesse ever replaced it. I know it wouldn't of made it that far running ATF.
I managed to find a new OEM drivers side mount assembly on ebay for $20 over what the cheapest aftermarket one cost. It's also revision code E, meaning the 5th reiteration of the part.
I'm hoping it's super beefy. But I'll be nice just to have a non-acid/brakefluid stained bracket.Beater=/= Sleeper

Warmer climates= Gear oil.
Cold climates= ATF
Ford basically says use ATF regardless of climate and Mazda says something different but Mazda designed it so I use their recommendation.92 Mazda MX3 GS> For sale, $1750 OBO

I've always used MT-90.
My GT-X box was abused prior to my ownership, but I managed to string it along for seven years of daily abuse. That's about 250% as long as I expected it to last.1990 Protege 4WD

The 5th revision drivers side mount came in today.
It looks like the trans side of the mount has a different bolt pattern than the old one. If I recall there were extra threaded sections on that mount. I'm not looking forward to changing out studs though.
Overall it's seems to be fairly well designed. Although I think this variant was designed more around weight shaving than strength. As it changes the cast trans side mount with a fairly thick sheet metal that's reinforced in a few places.
I'll probably make a comparison thread after I swap them out.Beater=/= Sleeper

changed the oil and compression tested it. discovered while pulled the plugs for the compression test that I'd cracked the insulators on two of them, so I had to go buy another set of spark plugs. that's two sets in like 1500 miles, what the ****. no idea why this keeps happening.sigpic

I somehow managed to botch my parts interchange and bought an F series drivers side mount. It doesn't matter as the assembly with the bushing is the same either way and fit fine but I'm still impressed I managed to **** that up.
New mount didn't fix my weird shiftier hitting the mid-console when I shift into 5th issue as I was hoping though. Suppose I'll have to trim the shifter boot retainer trim by about 1/4 inch. It's easier than going through the trouble of shimming a bracket that would take too much trial and error to find.Beater=/= Sleeper

replaced the front brakes today- Hawk HPS pads and some decent blanks. went to push the piston back in on one caliper and blew out the seal, so that was awesome. ended up replacing the calipers, too. pedal feel still sucks, new booster and adjusting the pedal will happen tomorrow.sigpic
