Kinda feel guilty about my intentions for it... Kinda. I found it on CL, looking for something BP powered, cheap, low mile and maintained... Wasn't anticipating the Clean factor, but It fit the bill, so I bought it. Really I just wanted a decent BP to throw in my NB while I build my BP4W for boost...
Pickup tube somehow broke on my miata, and i lost oil pressure on the highway at 70mph, spun a rod bearing and it knocked three or four before I shut it down. This happened a few weeks ago, and I just want it back on the road ASAP.
Anyway, I ended up finding this LTS, 87,000 miles and really well maintained. I spent a bit too much on it, but figured it was a solid engine and had enough part-out potential to make it worth while. I'm also finishing a massive overhaul of the 5 door currently, so my plan was to drive this LTS for a few weeks while I finish that, then pull the LTS motor, give it the RWD parts treatment and slam it into this:
After mulling it over for a few nights, I would be perfectly okay with trading this car straight across, for a very clean oxford white wagon shell, and a running BP engine. The engine for the miata obviously, and the wagon can be a bare shell because I want to swap the 5 door stuff back into a wagon for practicality.Current:
68 Torino GT Fastback
86 MR2
91 F150
94 Escort Wagon BP swap
99 Escort Wagon BP swap
00 Miata LS
08 Arrow AX8
14 Mazda5

Popped a rusty brake line on my 99 wagon the other day, thankfully an uneventful failure. My fiance was nervous about me driving it anywhere (she was with me) so AAA brought us to my uncle's shop so i could work on it there.
Turned out both rear brake lines were completely rotted from roughly the shifter back. Worked on it for a couple evenings, wound up flaring in a couple of unions just below the drivers footwell and replacing them all the way back. Rear wheel cylinders looked a little crusty but w/e. Finished it up and left it there planning to come back and get it in a day or so.
The next day we're driving around in the miata and the clutch master cyl starts leaking fluid everywhere... clutch pedal no worky worky. Happen to be near my uncles shop so i say hey, let's drop off the miata and pick up the escort, it's done.
So i take the escort out for a test drive, pedal goes soft... pull it back in the shop, one of the rear wheel cylinders actually cracked where the line threads into it. It was so rusty the metal was so thin that it just split. The other side doesn't look much better. So now I'm carless.... borrow my aunt's car for the night. Pick up wheel cylinders after work the next day (had to order miata parts) and head back to the shop to put those in. The install was loads of fun as i had to drill out the wheel cylinder mounting bolts. PS: i hate working on drum brakes, especially rusty drum brakes.
This weekend i replaced the clutch master and slave on the miata as well, and all is finally good in car-land. Well, other than the fact that i still havent touched the EGTR....Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI
