Originally posted by cablemircthe fuel pump has a "fumes sniffer" to help with the low fuel light indicator. if your car did not come with the low fuel light, you will need to remove the fuel pump and replace it with one from an LX (easy way), or get the little wire wrapped arm assembly off an LX and replace that part with the float arm onto your existing pump lid, and plug it in.
the DX has all the wiring necessary to accomplish this task, short of the cluster (for non convienience package equipped DX's) and the sender unit inside the tank. i will look for pictures of the protege fuel pump to facilitate description of what i mean, but i think the description should be adequate.
so i just need a fumes sniffer then which somehow works using ground
