    rack and pinion bushings

today i took the protege for alignment and they told me that my rack and pinion bushings needed replacement, they quoted me $30 for the parts and 60 labor
i was wondering where are these bushings located?

IF you actually have to change these bushings, you can easly do this your self, all you have to do is undo the 2 bolts per u clamp( there are 2 u clamps) I think its either 12 or 14 mm your choice an open end wrech or socket and ratchet, then push the rack forward, pull off the buchings, slip on the new ones, bolt everything back together; and you are done.

those bushings are practially worthless. in my opinion they only serve as a vibration dampner
