    GTR Brakes

Ok guys, I was sitting around the house watching NOPI tuner vison when I got an idea of using my GTR front strut assemblies with LX hubs so I can stay 4 lug all around. I want some imput from you guys if you think it would be possible to mate the LX hub to the GTR strut assembly so I can run bigger brakes up front without having to do lots of modding.

to run the GTR brakes you need the GTR hubs I suspect unless the discs on the LX and GTR are the same which I doubt.

Yeah, I forgot about the disc size. All I kept thinking about was the stronger caliper.

Sorry man, but from what I hear the GTR brakes are nothing to write home about. I haven't seen pics of your car lately, post some up

I'll try to get some photos up today. It's kinda hard for me to do a photoshoot with the car since it's in my driveway and the nose of it is on jackstands for drivetrain work.

I think you should trade me those for a set of 3000GT VR4 aluminum 4 piston calipers

GTR calipers are single piston. But the swept area is enormous. Trouble is there aren't any good performance pads available, till now. Porterfield made me a set of front pads (85 rx7 pads work find in back) and I told em to keep the template. in case anyone else needs pads for their GTR, call em up...

So what happens when you wipe out a wheel bearing with the GTR stuff?

Replace it with one for a 929 iirc. I have one spare, if you need I'll go get a part#. In any case the bearing assy is a huge freakin doughnut, I doubt it'll break.. it makes the gtx bearing setup look like the sickly puppy it is.

Would the 929 hub/brake assembly bolt on to the BG/GTX?

Rear bearings on gtr are same as fronts. as for if those hubs will bolt to a BG, I dunno but since the bearings are interchangeable I wouldn't be surprised if the hubs are too. What I know for sure is, GTR hubs/knuckles/uprights will bolt to a 1st gen protege.

hmm, are AWD protege rear knuckles anything like the GTR rears? Would be neat if I could convert them to gtr hubs.

Stock prot knuckles and such have been converted to GTR hardware on both of my cars. Bolts right up.

interesting, in the foremost degree. I gather the gtr assemblies are beefier for higher duty.
