after finally getting one, i am of the opinion that everyone should own a digital caliper. they are cheap (less than 20 bucks on ebay) and they come in SO HANDY for stuff like this. i use mine all the time!

well im kind of guessing this but i think the s/r and the hp's are not the same rod size as they only made the s/r for the zx2 and the hp's are only listed for the 91-96 escort 91-94 pro and mx3 so i might just buy the stock bearings for the protege

like i said they should be the same as normal BG size bearings. all 97+ escorts use the larger front shaft diameter BTW, not just the zx2 s/r

thats your problem then, if you got that kit and have 2nd gen escort style struts, you have the wrong strut bearings AND the wrong perches. do you have your old perches?

rockauto just called me back and told me that they had a catalog error and that the part number was incorrect and they are refunding my money and paying for return shipping
