Anti-squeak plastic tubes on the springs...

You know those plastic tubes that are cut down the middle and put on the coils of the stock springs, and when they compress they don't let the metal rub on each other...

... do you guys put those back on your lowering springs?

OR am I just answering my own question?

I'd say go raid a junkyard on some stock spring setup... that's where mine are from.

I'm gonna take that your front springs squeak?... they're ugly but I think I'll put them on.

MX-3's, that's what mine are off of?... Dunno if Protege's or EGT's have them on the springs. I'd just check any car...

I never inquired to see if there are such things as aftermarket stuffs out there... but I assume you could make some outta some tubing.

GT's do have them, as well as all the Escorts. Not sure about Pro's, but i would assume..

*shrug* on my other car(97ish LX Scort), i got tired of the wicked noises it would make under the pressure of turning. or railroad tracks. or speed bumps. or... you get the idea.

those stock seats wouldnt fit because i had crappy ebay coils.
(wouldnt matter anyway, seems like all the ones i found were falling apart)
so i came up with something else:

i just took some old rubber hose and gooed up the inside with some windoweld(i had a lot left over, so i used that sh*t for everything ) so that they would stay in place.

stuck them on and it stopped the problem for me :D

since i had the car dropped about 2.5 you couldnt tell how cruddy they looked.
and yes, they will look cruddy :D
Built Ford tough, with Mazda stuff.

Get a old (or new wtf ever) tire tube from say a bicycle and cut it in half. Then figure out a way to hold it under the spring until it decompresses to normal after and holds it in place. It helped with my damn HORRIBLE metallic sounds upfront after i put on my H&Rs + S/Rs!

Get a hose that will fit around the spring, spay lube on the spring and slide the tubbing up around the coils. thats what i did.

All good ideas!... but I wasn't feeling my usual creative self... so I just put back the uglies on the springs. They don't look that bad... I don't think

Those are just the crappy ones that were off my stock springs... they were a little dirty, but that's the best I could do for cleaning them.

I'm heading to the junkyard maybe this Saturday for that brass coloured looking lock on the rear struts... I'll check to see if there are any there for you.

Haha... yeah, I'm colour blind so if the colours don't match too bad. The original colour is that lime green, ew. The rest of the crap I just painted with whatever paint I had lying around.
