    Strut Brace

    hey guys,

I installed a strut brace last saturday, but I have 2 questions:

-how hard should I tighten the nut shown on the image?
-whats the torque for the 4 nuts on top of the strut?

    (Example image)

    Thanks

And what about strut bar manual?
Car manual says about 30Nm. Are we talking about just nuts for shock absorber mount?

PS Workshop manual is more exact and says 29-40 Nm. Though, our value is in the correct range.
Is your strut bar for 323F BG or/and for 323? We have different shock absorber mounts, but maybe these struts are universal.

I don't know if the struts are universal, I'll stay with the 30Nm.

any thougts on the other nut? (the one on the picture), should I leave a small gap or just tighten them up?

I think so: tighten them 30-40 Nm, (Is theirs size the same as hanger bolts in mount?) when you're palnning drive by highway/town. But when the road is really crap (as it is sometimes in our country ) - pits, holes, etc or some fishing trips - loosen these nuts to give car body just a little bit of freedom.

Do not sweat it, it is not as if you are tightening the cylinder head or the crankshaft.

                Found something on youtube:

Install with Sean S. from RalliTEK. 2008+ Subaru Impreza, WRX, STI strut tower brace install.

If Mr. Subaru 2008 can handtight the nuts, so can I.

Thnx for all the info anyway,

                T.

Maybe I've not understood smth, but he used screw key, with light force, though he did this step with tool, not hand.

Solid, snug, tight, but not overtightened. The torque specs are not critical, If you're doing 35 on the 4 bolts for the strut mount, I would do 30 for the bolt you have circled.

If the bolts are loose enough to allow the strut bar to move, there is NO point in having the strut bar installed in the first place.

If you look at the factory GTX bars, they are not adjustable anywhere, but are fully welded one-piece units. I recommend to get as close to the factory bar as possible.

Please, can you say about possible size of changing of strut bar length? (or min length, max length, or their difference, 5-10 mm, etc)
