The other day I sold a set of the GT pro Mazda BG GTX Ksports (the inverted ones). When the customer called in he was looking to go super low and read the old group buy thread about the BG GTX Ksports not going as low as the MX3 set---so he was inquiring about the MX-3 set and availability. This caused me to twitch a little bit as I was still remembering the "issues" with the group buy, but a guy's got a right to go lower if he wants so I called in to Ksport to see what was available/time frame. Eric at Ksport said he had ordered me 3 set's of the Escort/BG GTX kits so he'd be ready for me as I was about the only one in the country moving any significant numbers, and then he also had a set of the MX3's on the shelf. I said great I'll take the MX3 kit and have you drop ship it to the customer...hey wait a minute!!! You've got both kit's in the wharehouse??? He said yep and he had a tape measure and a camera out already and was headed back to measure them to see what the differences are.
He pulled both kits down, opened them up and pulled a rear from each kit---absolutely identical---same length/spring/clevis and top mount (I thought the catalog listed the top mounts as different, but they are the same). Then he pulled a front from each box and it was absolutely IDENTICAL---same length/spring/clevis and top mount. We thought the Mx3 kits came with a shorter 180mm spring while the BG GTX kits had the 200mm spring, but that is not the case---they are exactly identical with the same 200mm spring.
There has been a lot of speculation about it and frustration---the GT pro/inverted set is exactly the same length and wont go lower---the roadrace version (RR) is the only version I know that has a shorter body/shaft and will allow the car to go lower in the front without having to change springs. So it turns out that the kits are identical except for the part numbers. I'd noticed a few people inquiring about the MX3 kit's lately and thought this might help---The kit I sold was for the ZX2 by the way, which KSPORT doesn't list an application for---as usual, the customers know more about what applications fit what than the manufacturer...
