Well I'd say you pretty much got it, sir, haha. Those indicator lights on the 6 is what I'm changing mine to. I don't like the big box with a blacked out symbol. I prefer the symbol to light up.

Says it is. 2000 Mazda 626 2.5L V6 with manual transmission, federal emissions without anti-theft. It's already shipped, so it should be here soon. Also found an engine for ~$695 in PA. Going to email the yard tomorrow to get a better quote and see if there's anything they have that I need.

Just fired off an email to the yard with the engine asking if it's complete or stripped down and if they could send me any photos along with a shipping quote. I also checked rockauto for everything I would need for a rebuild and it doesn't look too bad. I would need a gasket kit, timing belt kit, valves/seals/lifters, etc. I was wondering if there are any high compression pistons made for this engine as well. I think the stock compression is 9.5:1 and wanted to bump that up a little bit, along with shaving the heads of course.

I found some 11.5:1 pistons from http://www.importperformanceparts.net/ for $689 made by Wiseco. That's the only brand with that compression ratio, the highest I saw from others was 10.2:1. I know going with the ZE pistons would probably be cheaper, but I want a little bit more compression. And I don't mind needing to run higher octane gas. If I was ever to buy a car with the SkyActiv-G engine, I would try to get the non-US spec 14:1 compression even if it needs 93 octane, just to be different
P.S. I still haven't gotten an email back about the engine yet. Might have to call sometime, damn.Last edited by irishkev90; 12-16-2011, 12:23 PM.

dont deal with IPP. they are just a middle man. you can order those same pistons from Wiseco directly, and save like $100 bux. unless you like to pay a middle man for taking your order.
pretty much any piston maker out there has the spec's for KL pistons. you just have to actually call them.~PaTricK~

Guess what I got today...
Sticker says "00 626 ES 5 speed"
"00 626 V6 5 sp"
KLR9-18881-E
They taped up the connector area, I'm assuming to keep dirt and crap out. It is quite dusty in there, though.
Here's a better picture with the tape off. I was nervous about taking the tape off because I didn't want to tear the label, but it came off perfectly clean.
edit: Typing that part number into Google brings up a couple places to get it from dealers or ECU remanufacturers, none for less than $400 shipped, though.Last edited by irishkev90; 12-19-2011, 08:30 AM.
