Got the transmission case sealed up with some gasket maker my dad have me. Cleaned up the 5th gear cover and waiting for the rust reformer to dry, then it will be painted and sealed on the transmission and I'll be done, finally. Might clean up and paint the transmission mounts also, not sure yet, though.
Cleaned up and sanded most of the rust off the 5th gear cover. What I couldn't get to I sprayed with Rust Reformer. Says to let it dry for 24 hours, so tomorrow morning it will get black top coat and maybe some clear if I have any. Then the transmission will finally be done. Besides changing the passenger side axle seal. Already did the driver's side.
Had my dad order a right rear quarter panel for when we start body work. $400 and it's apparently one of three left in the country since it's been discontinued. The driver side isn't as bad so we're just going to build that out of sheetmetal.
Been thinking about the head work also, when I get around to pulling the engine. Port, polish, shaved and possibly the Singh grooves. Anything else?
I had a feeling you'd get on here, I saw you guys the other day when I drove past your house. But yeah, I've still got everything, just going extremely slow. I'm also thinking about ditching the Z5 work and doing a 3.7L Mazda6 engine swap. Just need to know if the Kia transmission will bolt up to it.
On a side note, the car doesn't like to start. It cranks for a second then dies. After maybe five minutes or more it will start, slowly. The battery is at 12 volts and right around 14 volts with the car running. I'm thinking the starter? It also feels like the engine is running kind of warm, but the temp gauge reads normal. Any help please!?!? Emergency!
Also, my OBDII scanner says the coolant temperature is around 200* while idling in the Burger King parking lot. Intake air temperature is around 130*, I think I need a heat shield or convert back to my old CAI.
