    Jacked jack shaft.

My jack shaft is jacked. How can I freshen it up?

Remove dust seal, clean bearing, grease it up, reassemble? Will the bearing need to be hammered/pressed in or anything like that? What am I looking at here?

I called a couple of transmission shops in the area and none of them were willing to service axles. They said they just buy them remanufactured.

Is that an intermediate shaft, Both of the axles I've replaced with remanufactured ones. It's only around $60 a piece. But if that's is an intermediate shaft (the center axle to help with torque steer) I'm not sure if they sell them.

Yes it is an intermediate shaft, and no they don't sell them.

See, I bought NEW axles and I fugred I might as well have the intermediate shaft serviced..... I didn't know it was dirty like that until yesterday when I took it out of the box (got it from a yard on car-part).

I haven't. And I haven't been to the garage today... busy with school. I'll check tomorrow.

In the mean time.... anyone ever taken one of those apart?

Instead of calling I decided to drop by a transmission shop and see if they could tell me anything about the intermediate shaft.

The guy looked at it and said the bearing was fine. He told me to just use some brake cleaner and clean the shaft/splines. And that is what I'm going to do. Easy enough.

You have to get the replacement bearing from the Dealer, then get that one pressed out, and press the other one in ...

Dealer can get you the part number from the schematics.

I have those same schematics and so far I've been very effective in getting the part numbers myself. That won't be necessary though. The joint shaft is fine. All I had to do was clean it.
