    overheating

    hi everyone new to the fourm and looking for help i have a 96 1.5 protege it started overheating about a month or two ago and i found that when i punched the gas that the temp would very quickly drop back down but the other day i took it for a drive and low and behold this was no longer the solution to my problem it now just overheats and stays that hot so i cant drive it anymore and this is my only runnig car so before i give up and scrap this car as it was ment to be a winter beater i wanted to get your guys opinion before i do.

    oh also when it is overheating it starts to blow cold air if thats any help of what it may be

      the punching the gas issues deals with a weak thermostat hose;
      seeing that it's weak..everytime it's under pressure it would contract and cause the car to display as if it's overheating.

      due to this being gone for a while.. u most likely now have a faulty thermostat as well;

      cheap fix.. i remember getting my hose and thermostat for under 30$ CDN
