    New Pro Owner *HELP!*

Okay...I can't say that I am all that good with cars...I know some basics...I don't know anything about mufflers and such...This is the deal...I just traded my 02 Escort with my mom for her 96 pro DX...THere are some minor things that I am going to do it to start, but have no clue where to go after that...I am going to get rims for it...Do some interior work and possibly some exterior work in the future...I know how to work the look part...I don't know what to do about the performance though...I am looking for any kind of tips or ideas that y'all can give me...I am going to need them...Please help me out...

if you're serious about performance, the biggest thing to do is an engine swap, the 1.5 doesn't have much potential. swap it out for the 1.8L (called the BP).

          Do a search dammit.
Look around. It's full of threads about this.

          Intakes: http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14073
          Exhaust: http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9180
          Dyno results: http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11175

And forget about the swap unless you're ready to spend $1000-$1500 on it (if you do all the work). Double that if you're paying someone to do it for you.

Here's what the swap involves: http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5491

Be a smart kid and do a search before you post next time.

Yeah gotta agree w/ this one. Our engines aren't the best out there but our car overall doens't suck just cause it has the Z5 1.5L.

The options for our car are limited but you still have options. Almost everythin for our car is custom work.

Don't forget to do a search on topics you're interested in. I recommend using the advance search and only targeting the 2nd gen sections. It's likely that any questions you have are already answered in one of the threads.
