How many miles are on your 2nd gen? Is it still running decently? I have a 96 with 169k and runs juz about perfect, just needs a new motor mount in the near future.

I'm over 311 000 km (~193K?). I refuse to believe that the engine in the car now is the original engine even though I don't have any proof that it was changed or rebuilt.

I just can't fathom a Z5 running that long but if this somehow is the original engine, I would have to change my opinion of the Z5 drastically. Maybe it is an acceptable econo engine?

My engine took up knocking last summer (about August). It doesn't sound very healthy now even after I've tried all the cheap fixes I know. I'm working now so it will be going to a dealer within the next two weeks as time and funds coordinate.

          Much more to come...

Swapped my Z5 at ~74,000 miles. It had burnt valves, and was losing compression.

Right now I'm at 79,000 miles with a freshly rebuilt BP.

              50k or less with a JDM Z5
              140k on the chassis

car starts and immediately rpms drop and it stalls out
if i start it, give it gas to keep the rpms up a few minutes (warms it up i guess) then it runs fine, with the occasional low idle- doesn't do that all the time tho...i need to check coil wires and stuff, maybe the MAF i dunno...any ideas... that's the only prob tho...and the engine light is on for the crank position sensor, which I just replaced, and it runs fine...

              so yea.
minor swap probs, other than that... excellent.

160K+ runs like a champ, no drastic repairs or anything,

had to change a gasket once(head gasket and oild pan gaskets)..no smoke form exaust, no oil leaks, starts up like new and idles smooth

~126K miles. Valves were toast a while back and replaced.
