all right I was watching future cars last night they were talikng about changing the whole way the car uses fuel, instead of the car just using 25 percent (75 percent goes in ozone) replaing it with a whole new type of fuel, ethonel e85 ( which is supposed to have a higher octane then fuel does now) supposedly its runs at 110 octane if that dont increase performance on any car its like some organic juice

Whos doesnt like it or not Id rather have my car running at its full potential even if it starts with my fuel . II. yeah corn oil get it organic juice III. putting 10% ethonel in fuel helps but not alot and so who in here wants to drive some guvs idea of a car, i take pride in mines knowing that i could change the whole fuel system and still have more balls then before , i think thats worth knowing if not then ur just ignorant

car manufacturers get benefits from having a certain amount of their cars sold running on ethanol.

you'll see a lot of ford tauruses and civics with the eco friendly stickers on them, meaning they can run ethanol. i'm sure that most people don't use them like this (aka running regular pump gas), but they could.

around large cities and high population areas, the government mandates that a certain percentage of ethanol is added to regular gasoline, as to cut down on the polution.

as to the 10% ethanol thing... from what ive read it actually reduces your gas mileage enough to cancel out any reduction in pollution. nice eh?

its also to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

and you're right, studies vary, but i've seen some which claim a 25-40% drop.

also, some studies say that it costs more to make than its worth.

if you read the article, it talks about ethanol, the entire topic of this thread.

it used to be more blatantly in the headline, but its still in there.
