I decided to name my Pro the "magical jellybean" today. I hope that isn't anybody else's name for their car. It looks like a jellybean (albeit poo coloured) and well... it's just a special car.1991 Escort Pony:

replaced the axel in the b6 323, tightened up the balljoint bolt & put on the lower b6 block-trans piece to cover up the exposed flywheel.

Spectre has had some poor products, but their hpR filters are just as good as K&N. I've read up on each of the filters. They use the same materials, both are washable/reuseable, same flow rates/specs, etc. The Specter hpR filters are also rated at how much horsepower they can handle (hpR = horsepower Rating). So for high horsepower applications you know what filter is best, of course that doesnt matter for my 92hp Z5. I feel that the extra money for the K&N is simply for the name.Last edited by irishkev90; 02-03-2010, 05:47 PM.

Well, like I said, the rating doesn't matter at all. And I've looked on plenty of other forums where there was a thread about the two brands. No noticable power or flow differences between the two. Simply a difference in price, which plenty others agreed was only because of the name. As soon as I get enough money I'll buy one of each filter and test them both out with the same system. And then I'll report back my discoveries. Of course, it would only be everyday driving, not a dyno test. Or it could simply be the logic of K&N being more expensive so it has to be better.
