Well, after 7 years I bid a fond farewell to my 97. It was free at 155,000 miles from my in-laws. Had to do some stuff over the years, but really never failed me. Transmission started acting up a couple months back, wouldn't shift up, especially into overdrive. I had to rev to 5k in 4th and let off then it would shift into OD. So, with rust creeping in, a check engine light that was constantly flashing for months, a low/rough idle and the trans slipping it would still make the 60 mile round trip to work everyday at 80 mph with 285,000 on the odo (MILES not Kilometers!). I don't think I can complain.
It was used as a trade in on a new Ford Escape for the wife. Now I get an upgrade to the 2001 Focus ZX3 we bought new. Power moonroof here I come!
Did I mention it has 307,000 miles?
