all my weight savings are paying off.
brought my car to 2 different mto scales and weighed under 1200 kg / 2618 pounds on both.
this is with 1/3 tank of gas and full washer fluid. spare tire and jack still in the car. full interior.
My goal is to be under 2600 no driver with full gas and washer fluid. Not much more to go.
Stock MSP is ~2843 lbs.

Stock MSP is ~2843 lbs.
Keep in mind I have added a huge heavy 3" turbo back exhaust, a big intercooler, a big turbo, heavy optima red top etc. so to be at 2618 in full street trim makes me pretty happy.
I think removing the spare tire, jack, switching to a carbon trunk and deleting the spoiler should make up for the 2/3 of gas I was missing in the tank.
Then if I kill off the remaining 20 pounds or so with a lighter battery and other small mods I should be reasonably close to 2600 curb weight goal.Last edited by vtec-this; 01-15-2013, 12:17 AM.

172.60HP & 156.93 TQ with only headers and short ram intake. back under the knife for a BPT swap.

^ hell idk apparently my skinny ass is deceptively heavy or something. i mean hell the roll cage doesn't even tip the scales more then your average person. its definitely sub 200lbs
~2800 with a full tank & me in the car (still lighter then my last 323 by some ungodly known reason)

well you are comparing a early 90s 323 hatch to a 2003 mazdaspeed protege 4 door sedan. IIRC a stock 323 with full gas tank weighs in the featherweight division at 2238 pounds.
if you didnt notice there is quite a bit of weight difference in these cars. stock msp is ~2843 so for me to be at ~2600 is more than fantastic for a modern street car IMO.

no AC, yank the dash and pull all the dead weight from the air box, heater core, ac vent tubes, etc. Much to be found in there. If you were feeling adventerous you could even replace some of the steel brackets with aluminum ones. Hell even the wiring harnesses for all of the AC controls could go if you just wanted every last lb.
