looks good. by chance do you remember seeing how ferdi built his X member when he swapped to the E153 toyota box????
that could also become an option .......
It's no longer up for debate about how I'm going to be doing this I'll be reenforcing the main bar to the lower section of the rad valance. Next time I drop it down I'll take a pic of it away from all of the obstructions. It'll be way more beefcake then the original crossmember was. I'll worry about the rear once I get done with the front one.
I'm attempting to tackle a few issues up front with one simple design. Also try to remember this is a BJ, not a BG.. It's quite a bit different in design up front. The frame rails are are scary thin starting around the wheel well/crank pulley area... This is definitely going to strengthen it up as a whole.
Lets just say that notching the frame rails for an adapter plate involved trans swap isn't really possible.. that's how thin it is. Plus my crank and trans are like a 1/4" away from touching the rails. Barely enough room to fit a belt through.
Too bad a crossmember setup like that is not available for the BG, it would allow you to design a front control arm tie bar and not lose ground clearance. I will be looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

I still plan on running underneath the trans to the rear mount like the normal crossmember would one way or another. Need something there to protect the general area. It will also help with belly pan/skid plate mounting later on down the line.
