    Welcome to the Forum.

If your car is new, your dealer is correct since it's best to break it in on mineral oil and then switch to synthetic after ~ 2000 miles or so. This insures that rings, seals and other bearing surfaces seat properly. Aside from the break-in restriction, there is absolutely no reason NOT to use synthetic oil as its advantages over mineral oil are many. Many Forum members, including myself, use synthetic oil. For more information, you might want to check out:

You also might want to look at TheMAN's FAQ that you can access at the FAQ button on the Forum's address bar.

In that case, your dealer is totally wrong when he says that you can't use synthetic oil. You will not void your warranty by using synthetic oil. Just make sure that you use the recommended SAE viscosity grade oil for your engine.

Since you have such severe winters, that's one more good reason to switch to synthetic oil. For example, synthetic oils have a much lower pour point than do mineral oils in extremely cold conditions insuring easier starting and better cold start lubrication resulting in less engine wear during that critical time.

yea i know, i ran synthetic in my mustang when i had it, ran it in my ranger when i had it, i like it for the fact that it really doesnt get thicker when it get colder, my mustang would get oil pressue before it evern reached high idle, that y i wanted to wonder gettin close to an oil change so i thought i should find out from other owners
