poor running after TB/water pump service

Our family friend has changed the TB/water pump but now at normal operating temp, the car's begun to misfire. It never did that before. My guess is that the cams went out of sync during the belt replacement. The spark plugs and coil packs have been examined and are free of fault.

-Anyone know what else it could be?

-Anyone know how, if it is the cams, one can tell if they are mostly in sync but not entirely?

I've let my sister use my Accord during the repair but I have to take a trip to Xenia, OH in the morning. Thanks for your knowledge in advance.

PS..... Besides triplezoom, are the good Mazda Protege forums I can join that are particularly useful?

Pull the upper timing belt cover off and see it if looks like this at top dead center(tdc).
