In my never ending project to build my door pods I have a few questions. I have a mold already build with a wood backing and fleece stretched over it, which will be getting resin in a couple of hours, and if all goes well they will be fiberglassed this evening. Originally I was planning on smoothing out the surface of the fiberglass with bondo and then painting them, but yesterday I started thinking about covering them with vinyl instead to match the interior better.
The problem that I'm facing is that the shape is very irregular and it would probably be difficult to get a perfectly smooth surface with the vinyl. I've never worked with vinyl before so I don't know much about it, and I don't really want to spend money on it if it won't work. Here are some pictures of the molds... my question is, can I stretch the vinyl enough to make it smooth out evenly over the surface but still match all the curves it already has?
