    Got a Protege5!

I'd been thinking about replacing my 90 Protege LX, when my buddy's 2003 Protege5 became available.
75k, manual, body is in great shape, ABS, HIDs, Familia badge, cone filter replacing airbox, Tokico blues, Eibachs, 17" BBS RRKs with summer tires, stock wheels with snows. I'm very pleased.

Added amps today- 4 channel Sony for the front separates and rear doors, Phoenix Gold MS-250 for a 10" sub in the hatch. HUGE improvement over deck power and the wheel well sub (disconnected now).

Also found a cured a rattle in the rear suspension caused by a loose sway bar end link.

Pointless trivia- The Phoenix Gold MS-250 was Phoenix Gold's first amplifier, circa 1991. I bought it new right after they came out. The ground plane on the circuit board is gold plated

Thanks. Not many more photos, but here's the gallery so far: https://picasaweb.google.com/1006497...eat=directlink

Just passed 80k miles and running great, save for some occasional driveline clunk from a 1st gear start. More frequent when warm. Got better with a new #4 motor mount, but not entirely fixed. #2 looks torn, and there's surface rust under it.

                Projects:
                - replace #2,#3 engine mounts (#4 already done)
                - remove rust and re-prime under #2 mount
                - replace PS fluid (Goldstar's writeup makes sense)
                - replace trans fluid
                - cat back (or muffler replace)
                - more scratch/ chip repair

Hey man, you're down in the springs right? I think that's what I heard... Anyway, I am buying a house in Arvada, and once we get settled in, I want to start Auto-xing my EGT... but I will need some pointers and help along the way... Have you run the P5 at all? How's it do if so? I need to get another vehicle running before I can start thrashing on the GT, but once that's taken care of I'll be ready to go hit some cones if you're down to hang out and laugh when said cones go flying... Send me a PM if you're willing to help a rookie out.

                  Thanks,
                  Cody

                  BTW your P5 looks great!

Hi Cody. I'm in northern CO actually, always happy to help with autocross stuff! Haven't autocrossed the P5 yet- am fortunate to co-drive a fully prepared dedicated FSP car. Be sure to get on rmsolo.org for schedule info and keep up to date on the very active forum too.

Installed new OE #2 and #4 engine mounts per #2 torn, and shudder during roll-off. #2 (front) is a cheap, and very easy to replace. #4 is a little more involved, but straightforward.
If you look at the driver's side frame rail in the engine bay in the pick above, you'll see battery acid had caused peeling paint and surface rust (no pitting thankfully, just cosmetic) around the #4 engine mount, so I sanded and painted to fix it while the mount was out.
Checked to see if the my car was affected by the VTCS recall- no recalls for my car, yeah!
