Hi, all.
I have searched the forum, but haven't found what I need.
I have a 2000 Protege that is used only for small trips in town (used very seldom). After starting the car after a long period of sitting, both the ABS and the brake light came on and stayed on. Based on what I have read, it is most likely a wheel sensor.
Anyway, I have no desire to fix the ABS system and would rather disable the whole thing. I know I can pull out the fuse under the hood, but how do I get the ABS and brake light to go out? I tried resetting the ECU, but the lights are still on.
The brakes work fine without the ABS (I have all new brake components and the fluid is fine). I just want those lights to go away.
I guess I can open the dash and physically remove the lights, but there must be a way to reset the fault codes (without the use of a code reader).
Thanks for any help on this.
