It makes sense, I have heard of the rivets being sheared off on the MSP LSDs, which is why people weld the ring gear to the diff centre.
Quaife recommend the ARP fasteners to fit theirs, and H-type diffs have 12 rivets for the ring gears...
But yeah I think were are all waiting on the edge of our seats to find out what went wrong.

given how prone the G series trans is to failure. i think most of us arent blaming or assuming its the lsd. i mean come on, a blown G series is posted about pretty much daily between the forums.~PaTricK~

I'm also doubting anything LSD related. There were no noises at all from the gearbox post mortem, no loose parts floating about. So broken input shaft or expired clutch or something of that nature is likeliest.'90 Mazda 323 - V6 KLDE, supercharged, right-hand drive, build log

It sucks that you had a part failure. Hopefully it isn't LSD related. With the HP #s you are putting down are you bracing the transmission case at all?
I put in a sponsorship proposal to MFactory over a week ago. I was hoping to hear back from them by now. Does anyone have a contact at MFactory that they have been talking to concerning our Mazda diffs? I sent in my proposal, but I wouldn't mind talking to someone personally at the company about us helping each other out. At the least I could get a solid yay or nay. I mean c'mon...I had this car covered by over 2 seconds at a National tour...in a 4 door Protege...

Isn't that Strelnick's FD? If so...Somehow I doubt an FSP Protege beat him by a full 2 seconds...nor his wife, I watched her drive at the Wendover Pro.....Ryan

Okay so this is totally a non dick head question:
Approximately how long are we talking for everything, assuming the next try goes good? I ask because I have a spare transmission with a phantom grip that I can put in the car for dyno and until this is done, but if its going to be done in a month, it'll be worth it for me just to wait. No rush, at least some testing was done.
So as a cliff note:
Around how long are we talking?

I'm 12th....4/1000ths of a second behind last years ST National champ. Next stop is the Blytheville Tour and Pro. I'm making a few adjustments to the car and it should be faster by then.

Alright, transmission is off the car. The news is good. The failure was 2-fold, and odd that they would both occur simultaneously.
Verdict - snapped axle (driver side, inside of the outer boot), and the ACT 6-puck disc was wiped out also. This is the first axle that I snapped in over 100 hard launches on slicks, and the break was inside the boot so at first visual inspection they seemed fine.
So sometime tomorrow I'll get in touch with PAR to get a shipping date for the gearset and I'll order a new clutch kit. Hopefully ACT has something new for the G-series (the Xtreme set that was in there was rated for 400 lb-ft, but it lasted an amazingly long time).'90 Mazda 323 - V6 KLDE, supercharged, right-hand drive, build log
