Um, ok? What do you suggest? I've put forth the cash and the effort, what else do you want? If I could control the weather I wouldn't be posting on CP, I'd be blackmailing people out of their sweet tax dollars in exchange for not flattening their puny villages with hurricanes.'90 Mazda 323 - V6 KLDE, supercharged, right-hand drive, build log

Anyway, the diff is installed, and the transmission is installed in the car. He is supposed to be hitting the dyno today and the track tomorrow, as long as the weather is good tomorrow.
Jan 27th: TheRielDeal claims we are looking at approx 2 months till we have LSDs in hand.

i'll find out the best way to go about things but you'll probably be best off just ordering one from their website in a couple months. they will be carrying these on the site for $650 plus shipping, plus the bolt kit. we're looking at roughly 2 months right now if testing goes well. 1 month for testing, 1 month for production.
February 2nd: Dan received the LSD
Originally posted by Dan [Sac] View PostAlright, here are pics. The post office dropped the box at least several times in transit - the pics speak for themselves. Hopefully there is no damage.
Overall, the LSD looks good. The thread on the bolts is a little bit rough, but given that it was a last minute machined item I think that's acceptable. Hopefully the production units will be cleaned up.
Because I want to eliminate any source of possible user error, I will have a shop professionally assemble the gearbox to ensure a perfect fit. This may add a little bit of time to the equation, but if we're gonna go to the trouble of doing this, we'll do it right the first time.
February 14th: Dan says by the end of the week he should have trans dropped off at shop to get the LSD installed (I assume the end of week being the 20th)
Originally posted by Dan [Sac] View PostI finally got a reply back from AUS about the PAR gears. They'll take 4-6 weeks to make (don't faint yet) so I'll have a gearbox assembled with stock gears for testing purposes. Since the LSD uses bolts for the ring gear that will make it easy to swap over to the PAR box once those goodies show up.
So, by the end of this week I should have the gearbox dropped off at a shop for the install and I hope to be on a dragstrip by the end of this month.
March 3rd: Dan claims he plans to do some testing March 14th
Originally posted by Dan [Sac] View PostPicked up the transmission today. Install went smooth, the bolts heads did have to be machined down to ~7mm. Hope to put it up in the car this weekend, and if weather cooperates, to do some testing by the 14th.
March 6th: Dan questions what gear oil to use
Originally posted by Dan [Sac] View PostJust one question, and I'm sure it's been answered in the 58 pages somewhere - is there a hard recommendation on the oil to run? I'm planning on using Royal Purple 75W90 for the stock setup with the MFLSD, then switch to NEO oil when the PAR-geared transmission is assembled.
March 11th: Dan claims car is ready to go... but wait! He suddenly has to dyno it on the 20th, why is this? He was supposed to be testing it in 3 days (the 14th). Now he is saying it should be tested March 21st
Originally posted by Dan [Sac] View PostCar is up & ready to go but no dyno time is available until the 18th, so I've scheduled dyno for the 20th, with the testing to take place on the 21st. I'll be doing the alignment on the 19th. So to reiterate, the new scheduled test date is the 21st.

SOME MATH
Current Totals (deposit paid):
28 spline - 17
26 spline - 25
Pricing:
$325 deposit, $325 upon completion of the project ($650 total)
This includes:
MFactory helical LSD
New diff carrier bearings
Ring gear mounting bolts
Shipping
17 + 25= 42 deposits
42 deposits @ $325 a piece = $13,650
MFactory is sitting on $13,650 + my $25 sending too much so $13,675 total for our 42 deposits.
This needs to be sped up, $13,675 isn't a laughing matter and is quite serious. This HAS been going on too long. The testing has yet to start, and there is a requirement of 1 month of testing. Then any changes need to be made if there is an issue, then more testing possibly. On top of that, everybody has to pay their remaining balance and the final units are produced and it is said it will take approximately another month after final payment till we have the items in our hands.
At this point, we are talking about having everything May 20th. I paid on October 30th. In 10 days it will be 5 months since payment. With the current "plan" it will be May 20th at best that I have anything to show for my investment in my hands. You are talking about 7 months since deposit, that is, if it doesn't rain tomorrow, and there are no issues with anything.
What do I expect? I expect a legitimate explanation on Dans regards on why he has been taking so long on this. He had at least a months time between TheRielDeal receiving the LSD getting the bolt head issue resolved, and Dan finally receiving it on Feb 2nd. In this time period there is no reason that he couldn't have gotten scheduled to get the LSD installed.
Not only that, but Dan keeps claiming all of these "time frames" as for when different items are going to be completed. Don't claim something that you can not uphold to.

I'm just as anxious as anyone. Has anyone taken in to consideration the expanse Dan has incurred by having a proteotype diff professionally installed? At a later date he'll still have to get the final product installed. Most of us will slap that **** in the tranny in the driveway or garage and I would be willing to bet my left nut that less than half of the people listed in the GB will properly install the bearings.
I for one don't mind the extra wait since I know it is for the better in the long run.
So fkin what if it's PM showers tomorrow. Maybe the track opens at 12 tomorrow. If anyone you have been to a dragstrip and not the industrial dead end road then you will know how difficult it is to get in several runs.
Sit back, relax, and let the people with real updates bump this thread.I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
