hi,
I'm selling my 1993 mazda protege LX.
I've owned and daily driven it for about 1.5 years, the lady i bought it from was the original owner, bought it from a mazda dealership in Idaho and it was well taken care of...currently the chassis has about 225,xxx miles. suspension probably 5000-7500ish dunno.
Since then i've installed suspension parts, new brake parts, header back exhaust, daily driven it, and partaken in a local autox racing event.
A list of the parts currently installed as follows:
Addco Front and Rear swaybars with fat polly bushings and endlinks
MazdaSpeed Front/Rear strut tower bars
Cusco Front camber plates
Brembo replacement rotors front and rear less than 2500miles driven on, practically new.
KVR Carbon Kevlar Brake pads installed at time of rotor install.
Custom Downpiped Passetter header with 2.5in exhaust to rear 2.5in muffler(some say its too big for N/A but i liked it) along the way is one Generic 2.5in resonator, and one 2.5in kakimoto racing resonator to the kakimoto muffler(those parts from a prelude exhaust) all manderal bends.
I had it alligned by mitas, who were able to dial in 2.8 front negative camber, and 1.5 rear. Sort of aggressive but honestly very daily drivable. Might want to get a realignment since that was last season.
ZX2 Escort Struts with Ground Control coil sleeves on cut perches, The spring rates were custom picked at 440/375 (height adjustable)
H&R 1in bolt on hubsentric front and rear spacers.
well, those are the parts, about a month ago the transmission broke, And i also borrowed the ECU, upper engine harness, waterpump, radiator and fan for a DOHC swap into my 4wd protege.
Basically what you will need to get this running is a timing belt, ecu, upper harness, and some other misc, parts. This would be a great canidate for a gtx motor, because it handles very neutral, you can tap the breaks and induce slight overseer limited by the traction of the rear tires, but either way is good for racing and aggressive driving. Its very predictable and i've never had any close calls or times where i didnt know what the car would do, but then again i was fairly careful and didnt push it to its limits more than a handful of times.
I'm also thinking about parting it if no-one wants the car as a rolling chassis, although it doesnt need much so i'd rather sell as whole.
For the interior it has MX3 recaro style seats, and rx7 shiftknob, steering wheel is stock with horn removed(weight like 2lbs) I installed elemental designs e-dead from firewall to trunk with the factory deadening removed, The HAVC system needs some work, Its missing some dash trim but i have most of the pieces. I painted the interior black, which looks good actually, and hasnt chipped or anything yet. oh, and black mx3 carpet.
The rear bumper is ziptied on, and the front one has bolts on each side and along the bottom, and a few tipties on the top to keep if from saging, i removed the bumper guards to save like 30lbs or more, but i have them and will include with sale.
at one time i weighed it with about 1/4 or something and it was 2160, currently probably about 2250 no driver.
Theres also a chip missing from the left trunklid taillight part, and some paint chips, but overall it still looks decent, i rolled the fenders to fit 15x7's with +35 offset, the white ones, and theres some paint chips there, also the driver side edge of the car is dented from the jack, i can post that later, its not easy to notice, also the bumper has a cutout for Cold air intake stuff. its missing some of the plastic side trim too, but i think i have spares.
The car has never been wrecked, just mentioning because i hit some stuff in my 240sx back in the day :
well, thats all i can think of, i have a spare good looking internals head from an Escort GT with like 100,000miles, valvecover, quality stock replacement clutch, and other misc, parts i'll add in if interested.
For price i'm not quite sure yet, this is sort of testing waters to see if anyone wants it...pm or post if interested, thank you for viewing, heres a bunch of pics starting from today, then random ones. Also a video of the exhaust sound, pardon the dead clutch...
John
installing mx3 carpet.
same suspension and rideheight, nicer wheels and tires.
heres what the exhaust sounds like with ****ty clutch and not optimal tuning(timing, air/fuel, air delivery, ect.) it should have gone faster, i have an incar video i might try uploading where it was tuned better. either way the stock BP manifold isnt good for high end power, and with the g series shifting at redline keeps you above 5500 past like 2nd gear.
gangster status sort of, too low i think for optimal suspension travel and arm heights, currently not that low.
header that connects to the 2.5 in exhaust, also compared to stock
