Selling my Protege LX track/daily modified exhaust, intake, suspension, interior ect.

Gauging interest i guess, it has a Header back 2.5in exhaust with kakimoto racing muffler, and two 15 resonators. Intake is an rx-7 B-code vaf stright off the throttle body, also, i removed the vics flaps and closed off all the vacume ****, its fukin pulls like a beast from 3000-7200. Its LOUD, and QUICK, the chassis is light, this might be a good track project for someone because here the bad news.....

the 3rd clinder in the block is cracked or something, it runs and drive, but burns mad coolant and oil, and needs to be reparied, good news is i have a set of Miata 9.5:1 Pistons with new OE rings in my room.

It has a new excedy made in Japan clutch installed, low miles G-series from an Escort GT, i have like, 3 heads, ones installed, new head gasket, um... lower miles water pump, aftermarket temp guage, the radiator is kinda a hack job from a Maxima V6 one, but its light, aluminium, and keeps the car cool as long as the fluid doesnt get low from the cracked block,

The breaks are newer Brembo oe replacements disks on 4 corners, and KVR carbon kevlar pads, it has STIFFER than recommended ground control coil sleeves on for zx2 struts, and THICK aftermarket swaybars on front and rear with custom well fitted poly busshings. IT also has front and rear MazdaSpeed strut tower bars, and Cusco camber plates in the front for negative camber.

I took the power steering pump off, and you can feel the road better, also it save like 35/40lbs.

Its Light, the interrior HAVC, works, but the pointing the air flow to feet, and center, and defrost needs to be hooked up, maybe redone, but it blows hot air though though the vents. It has matching recaro style Bucket seats. Needs manual belt for passenger front, but i jimmy rigged a driver side setup.

Well, bad news is the reaking exhaust leaks from the back of the car at stop lights, and whatnot, so you might want to tow it. But i'll price it fairly, i'd really like to see it go to a good home as i've done alot of **** to it, and its already aligned sort of, and its pretty much ready to race once u re-do the block, maybe a light cage and better OE seatbelts for safety.

Thanks for reading, pics later, i'm sure some of you know what car i'm speaking of.

    John

i'll have my # up soon if you want to call me directly.

Thinking a ballpark range, maybe like $1500obo?

oh yea, i just got new medium-high quality plug wires, and NGK platnum fatties, some bad ass plugs for the 1.8

it has black MX3 carpets, right now it doesnt have a hood, and the trunk lid doesnt latch cause i removed the arms and hook, and its a PITA to install the release wire things but it can be done.

i usually just zip tie the bumpers on cause i'm tight like that, but u can install them however you want lol.

IDK, i just need money for new projects i guess, if u think its worth less or like the car, but dont quite have enough just lmk, and maybe we can work something out.

If you were closer I'd be all over it. I've been wanting to strip a Pro down for the track. Bump for a good sounding deal.

thanks dudes, its not a bad deal, i totaled conservative cost estimates in all my aftermarket parts listed, and it came out to about $1850, not to mentions the car itself back in 2006 was $1200. its all aligned, it runs like a beast, i can take a vid today of it starting and **** so you all know what ur getting. I think maybe around $1700 might be more fair idk, alls it needs is a block shell, and for it to be cleaned and pistons installed, this is sort of gauging interest but if i get the right offer i;d probably part with it.

how can it have a cracked block and yet "pull like a beast"?

Can you see the crack in the block? It sounds like it could also be a head gasket.

it must be a hair line one, cause like, i got a new gasket, a nicer OEM one, and installed it with low miles head, and it smoked some coolant and oil, than i replaced the plugs, wires, and my old 200K head that never failed me, started it up, and still, the same light/medium smoking of coolant and oil but without the fouled 3rd cylinder before i had the new plugs and wires.

The 3rd head is one i got recently, but one of the valve seats is chipped, i never installed that one though i was gonna rebuild it, but like i said, i drove it around for like 30 miles, and it runs ok, has a small collant leak by the thermostat cause i didnt gasket it on, and blows really stinky smoke, but i'm sure the headgaskets still fine, and if the buyer wants i have a clean set of 9.5:1 higher compression pistons from a like 99 miata that will bolt up, and new seals for it, you can get a block here at the junkyard for like $100, i'd fix it but i just moved out and i dont have a garage to work in.

i'll have a number posted tomorrow if you have questions, i can make a startup and rev it a bit video to show that it starts, show the smoke, and um, i can do a pass in like 1st and through 2nd, it runs stronger than before i took the vics flaps out honestly, i raced a 2004 legacy automatic and pulled a carlength into 3rd. its quick, but alls i can guess is the block cause i did the two separate heads, with new gasket. It might be something else but i doubt it. also one of the retainers the end one on the driver side intake cam is only 1 of 2 bolts bolted, so half way secure, i was getting a bit of slight vibration noise from the engine, idk :[

but yea, trying to get rid of it to help jump start some parts ordering possibly, and i want to put a down payment on this piano maybe :o

the only other thing, is the tie rod ends are worn loosee, the bolt spins and the nut cant tighten, so like, i have a cotter pin on both sides, but only one has the nut under it, it'll be a pita but both tie rod ends need replacing before you can race it or drive tolerably on the freeway, those are like $27 a piece at our parts store here.

i can post pics tomorrow with the phone number, i might part it too, but it runs, just needs some block refreshing

unfortunately no, it sat for a year in the freezing cold, but i'm pretty sure it had collant in there so idk how it would have happened, i blew my stock 200K clutch last winter, 4th to 5th shift at like 60mph on the freeway, and lots all my feel from the gearbox, and it wouldnt **** at all, took the transmission off this fall, and the clutch disk was blown to pieces. so i had my OEM excedy laying around, installed it with a junkyard found G-series from an EGT with like 100K cant remember exactingly. but yea, no luck seeing anything, i was uber disappointed cause like, i sanded the surfaces with like an 800grit wet/dry stuff to clean it, got a spankin new gasket, all that good stuff, and like, yea, it just smokes out the back, i don't know why but i'm almost positive, that if u either got a replacement block and straight install, or had the walls honed and cleaned, than install of the Miata pistons, it should probably run fairly well considering the head is in good enough condition to keep up with the fresh block, pretty sure the one i first installed, was from an EGT with like 60K, and at first i thought maybe it was warped, cause i got the smoke, than i put whats on there now, my 200K one, and well, its doing the same thing, so idk, but yea, priced to go and i'd like to help as much as i can, it needs a few things, and a clean up, and you'll be able to hit the track with it for sure, maybe some 17x9's and some 235/40/17's :p to keep the stiff chassis on the road lul.
