Up for sale is my '91 Protege with clean title, clean carfax, new registration good til Sept '13, and major engine work within the past year. Replaced parts include timing belt, water pump, accessory belts, radiator/hoses, valve cover gasket, thermostat, spark plugs/wires, passenger side axle, tires, and a new sunroof panel.
I've spent a lot of money on the car because I originally planned to keep it for a while and wanted it to be as reliable as possible. Unfortunately I'm now having to sell to pay for other unexpected costs.
With relatively low miles for a BG - 179k - she's definitely reliable. Engine fires up strong, plenty of grab in the clutch, no gear grinds or transmission problems, and with the DOHC motor it has plenty of pickup. An all around solid commuter and/or platform for a new build.
There are a few issues to mention. A/C currently doesn't work, the rear caliper sticks when you pull the e-brake (I usually leave it in gear when I park) and there is an exhaust rattle. Cosmetically, there are a few scratches, dents, small areas of rust. A couple cracks in the dashboard. Nothing major.
Other good points to mention:
- Power locks, windows, mirrors, and sunroof.
- The car has never been in any accidents.
- Mostly highway miles.
- Ready to go, title in hand.
