That's a good article. The only problem is for us Protege people, sponsors don't come easy. Many companies would rather sponsor a RX7 when it comes to Mazdas. The article kind of touched on this but what alot of people need to know is. In order to get sponsored you already need to have poured lots of money into it. But yeah the back scratching is very important. It's all about mutual respect. I hope to get myself some sponsors when I attend the big shows this year..ie HIN, NOPI, and such.

True they want flashy cars in their sponsorship not to mention you have to win a lot and spend a lot before getting there!

They way I have always viewed it is: by the time you earn a sponsorship, you really don't need one.

well now that I am sponsored I re-read over that article.... and some of its true or atleast it was for me... but for me I think it was how I didnt ask to get sponsored I just told them my idea and they thought about it and were like ... ya know i think we have have something and they called a few places and pow... that and in the past week ive sent them like 6 people for installs and amps... and told htem to tell the shop I sent them.... so far they've made about $800 off of me and I havent even got anything from them yet besides the title... they did say that me having a protege instead of a civic helped.... how many people see them and then how many people see protege's with work done to them.... so people check them out instead of the 20 civics next to me and they said the color helped.... 1 of like 30 protege's in a 2 hour radious 1 of 3 hooked up proteges from all years and 1 of 1 hooked up 2nd gen and 1 of 5 blueberry micas in all categories.... they said it caught them and said it had potential....

u dont have to have an rx7 to be sponsored just be original and dont follow the norm and dont ask to have a sponsor in a nutshell

You hit the nail right on the head there Aaron. That is about the same way I had gotten my sponsorship. It was offered to me, I didn't ask for it.

i got offered a sponsorship from phoenix gold from me asking if i could get a hook up on equipment from a guy that got certified as an iasca judge with me. i was just screwing around, since he said he worked for PG. little did i know that he was their technical marketing specialist. he told me that he could either get me a deal on equipment, but i'd still be paying over wholesale cost, or i could get sponsored and pay below wholesale. i e-mailed him my plans and pics of the car i planned on using. because of the car i was given the opportunity to purchase all the equipment i wanted, which was about $6k retail, for just over $1k. course i was planning on using a fully restored '72 special edition VW beetle. but i calculated the cost to completely finish the car, and it's gonna be a few grand more, that i don't have needless to say i turned down the sponsorship ah well, one day
