Some minor updates -
stupid previous owners, rounded the lug nut off on the drivers side front tire... I had to dremel that biatch off of there.... After enough cutting and chiseling it finally let go and the tire came off... not before I broke 1 extension, 1 3/8ths ratchet, 1 3/8ths breaker bar, (yes I broke a breaker bar!) and and adapter. Took awhile, but I got it off of there with enough dremeling, drilling, and chiseling.
Then the axle nut would not let go... I even hit it with the impact for 5 mins or so and nothing. Then I put on a breaker bar (36") and jumped on it, and nothing.... The whole car was moving from the for I was exerting on the nut. Finally I had to break out the dremel and cut slots into the nut to get some of the threads to weaken enough I could bust it off of there.
Now the axles wont come out. I have been prying on them with my 36" Gorilla bar... has the hook like a crow bar, but still can pry them out. I know that the axles can be a real PITA, but jeez....
Any suggestions?
oh and I know, pics later tonite of the destruction.

thats how i got them out of the spindle.....i couldnt get 1 to come out of the tranny so i just pulled the motor with it still attached...then i just pulled it out....after you get them out of the spindle they *should* just pull out of the tranny....some times it takes a lot of prying and frustration to get them out tho.....good luck91 323 GTX @ 16psi, 5 speed || December 07 R.O.T.M.

lol, thx, b/c I have them out of the spindle and dave said the passenger side one should pull out as well, but it hasn't despite my prying. didn't know if there was maybe a trick or something....
Well anyways, if I have to pull the entire motor out, I may just go ahead and do that since its about ready to come out anyways.

i had that problem with the tranny in my friends 323, there were retainer clips on the tranny side of the axle and if they were not lined up when they put the axles in they WILL NOT come out. i finally pulled the axles apart, bought a new tranny and axles, then a month later decided to take apart the old tranny and used a ball joint splitter to remove the axle ends and the clips finally gave way."Discontent is the first necessity of progress."

yeah its not pretty, if that is indeed your problem there will be chunks off that ring grinded into the axle splines"Discontent is the first necessity of progress."

Avoid taking the balljoints off as they are likely to be damaged ... it took me a good 2 hours of prying and hammering to get those axles off - it wasn't pretty. But they came off alright and were easier to put back in Good luck - imapct the pry bar with a hammer that is much more effective than just prying
